The Titans brought in Donnie Avery after they officially placed Kenny Britt on IR.
The Tennessee Titans auditioned at least five receivers on Tuesday following the season-ending injury to WR Kenny Britt and they signed one of those guys -- Donnie Avery. Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports the two sides agreed to terms on a contract. No word on the money or years included on the deal.
Britt was lost for the year last week when he tore his ACL so the Titans needed someone to fill the void. Avery, the former St. Louis Rams receiver, was released on the final roster cuts in early September. Originally a 2008 second round pick, Avery amassed 100 receptions for over 1,200 yards and eight touchdowns in his first two seasons in the league.
He missed all of the 2010 season with a knee injury so he's sort of an unknown with so much missed time early in his career.
Avery will replace Britt at receiver for the Titans, who are getting a strong year from Matt Hasselbeck. We'll see if Avery can help fill the void.
