The Arizona Cardinals made one large wave of cuts on Friday, one day before the 53-man roster deadline. The Cardinals did it all at once, paring down the roster in order to be compliant with the NFL roster rules. Though Arizona is now at the limit, head coach Ken Wisenhunt made it clear more shakeups may come, especially after the rest of the league makes its cuts, releasing a boatload of players into the wild.
The players cut to meet the 53-man roster deadline were:
Besides Graham and Ware, the defensive cuts Friday included safety Jared Campbell, cornerback Fred Bennett, linebacker Will Davis, cornerback Marshay Green, defensive end Kenny Iwebema, nose tackle Ricky Lumpkin, defensive end Jeremy Navarre, cornerback Bryant Nnabuife, linebacker Cyril Obiozor, linebacker Kendall Smith, linebacker Pago Togafau and cornerback Thad Turner.
Offensively, the Cards released center Ben Claxton, quarterback Brodie Croyle, tackle Cliff Louis, fullback Reagan Maui’a, wide receiver Aaron Nichols, center Kris O’Dowd, guard Tom Pestock, running back William Powell, tight end Steve Skelton, wide receiver Isaiah Williams and tackle D.J. Young.
Graham is punter Ben Graham and Ware is safety Matt Ware, who was brought in as an insurance policy in case Adrian Wilson was unable to play through his injury.
