NFL Roster Cuts: Pittsburgh Steelers Make Final Five Cuts

Stay connected with SB Nation

A day after cutting 21 players, including guard Keith Williams, the Pittsburgh Steelers got down to the 53-man roster maximum with five more cuts on Saturday. The Steelers reached the limit by releasing G/T Tony Hills, CB Crezdon Butler, P Jeremy Kapinos, TE John Gilmore, and DE J.Crittenton.

Steelers fans appear a bit surprised by the decision to release Hills due to his lack of practice squad eligibility. Beyond that, the Steelers are a sufficiently veteran team that most of the moves are not too shocking. Gilmore was in a battle behind Heath Miller but it appears as though Weslye Saunders secured the roster spot.

You can head over to Behind the Steel Curtain for more discussion about the Steelers final roster cuts and the current make-up of their 53-man roster. There aren't many surprises, but as with any team there is always plenty to discuss. While the Steelers are down to the 53-man roster limit, the team can continue making transactions, which means end of the roster guys are not necessarily safe yet.
