The Oakland Raiders have cut their roster down to the required 53-player limit, but several question marks remain between now and their Monday Night Football opener against the Denver Broncos. These question marks likely indicate more moves are on the way either via waivers or free agency.
For now, the Raiders raised some eyebrows by waiving QB Trent Edwards and MLB Sam Williams. Edwards was battling Kyle Boller for the backup QB position while Williams appeared to be the primary backup to Rolando McClain. The Raiders have Terrelle Pryor at quarterback but he was placed on the Reserve/Suspended list for the first five games of the season, meaning the Raiders as assembled are looking at two QBs for the first quarter of the season.
The Williams release raises some eyebrows as well given that it leaves the Raiders with only one true middle linebacker. The folks at Silver & Black Pride are equally perplexed, thus the expectation of more roster moves on the horizon.
