The San Francisco 49ers open the NFL season as heavy favorites over Pete Carroll's Seattle Seahawks in their Week 1 divisional battle.
The wide-open battle for the NFC West kicks off with a bang as the Seattle Seahawks visit the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 of the NFL season. So far oddsmakers have tabbed San Francisco as the heavy favorite, offering a line of -6 (-105) against Seattle's line of +6 (-115).
San Francisco enters the 2011 campaign hoping that the crown jewel of the franchise's offseason -- heralded rookie head coach Jim Harbaugh -- can lead the scarlet and gold back into the hey-day of yesteryear. Led by veteran running back Frank Gore, and returning starters Alex Smith and Michael Crabtree, Harbaugh aims to pull the 49ers' offensive attack into a potent West Coast system.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks' squad that takes the field will have quite a different look than the one that stunned the New Orleans Saints in the NFC playoffs last year. New quarterback Tavaris Jackson hopes to pair up with old Vikings teammate Sydney Rice as they attempt to carry Seattle back to the divisional title.
But according to Vegas, don't expect a lot of points out of this game. The current over/under is set at 38 points, with a -110 line on either side.
