Both the Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals were eliminated from Wild Card contention with losses last week, but the second place position in the NFC West is still up for grabs. The Seahawks will be looking to win their sixth of the last seven games after starting out the season 2-6. Head coach Pete Carroll says that the Seahawks are preparing just like any other week, despite the fact that they can no longer make the playoffs. "I don't think we're changing anything in that regard. We're going to try to win the football game," said Carroll. "To look at something for the future is not on our minds at all. We want to come back and play another good game of football." The Seahawks will work their offense through a rejuvenated Marshawn Lynch, who has a career high 1,118 rushing yards this season.
The Cardinals are looking for the for first win over the Pete Carroll led Seahawks, as they're 0-4 against him since he made his way back to the NFL. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt has the same mentality as Carroll does heading into the last week of the regular season. "We're not approaching this as the last week," Whisenhunt said. "We want to win this game. I think it's a pretty significant achievement for this team, after starting 1-6, to get back to 8-8. I think it means a lot." It looks like quarterback John Skelton may once again get the start with Kevin Kolb still dealing with concussion issues.
