The Green Bay Packers have officially hit cruise control. Though head coach Mike McCarthy hasn't explicitly stated he will rest his starters for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, there is little reason for Aaron Rodgers and Co. to work a full game with the NFC's top seed in the playoffs locked up. The Lions have much more on the line, as they look to secure the conference's No. 5 seed.
Should the Lions win, they will play the winner of Sunday's game between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants for the NFC East title. Lose, and they will have to travel to play the San Francisco 49ers or New Orleans Saints in the first round, a significantly more daunting prospect.
While the Lions may get the Packers at less than full strength, they still have to conquer the demons of Lambeau Field. Detroit has not won in Green Bay since 1991, back when Barry Sanders was still a young running back. Matthew Stafford will look to redeem himself for his last game against the Packers. He threw three interceptions to just one touchdown in the loss.
