Eagles Vs. Redskins: LeSean McCoy Inactive, Concedes Rushing Title

Eagles speedster LeSean McCoy had a chance to win the 2011 NFL rushing title in Week 17; instead, McCoy is inactive for Philadelphia's last game of the 2011 NFL season against the Washington Redskins. The Eagles are likely trying to protect a player who was one of their most productive options in 2011 after he turned his ankle in a Week 16 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

McCoy sits at 1,309 rushing yards after Week 16, and is in second in the NFL in that category, 128 yards behind Maurice Jones-Drew. McCoy's chances of making up that ground were slim to begin with, but being deactivated obviously decreases them to none.

The Eagles were eliminated from playoff contention in Week 16, when the New York Giants won to make the the NFC East a two-team race. Ronnie Brown will replace McCoy in the Eagles' starting lineup.
