Confusion is the best way to describe the two points the Detroit Lions just picked up on a safety against the Green Bay Packers. Filling in for an injured Randall Cobb, Pat Lee caught the ball on a Lions kickoff as it bounced into the end zone. He took a knee, but a grasp of the rules eluded him. The result was a safety.

What happened was that the ball came out of the end zone before Lee pulled it back in and took a knee. That made it a safety, and added two points to the Lions lead. Detroit is up 9-0 on a Packers team resting Aaron Rodgers.
Randall Cobb usually does the kick return work for Green Bay. Cobb is inactive for the game as he deals with a groin injury.
