NFL Scores Week 17: 49ers Vs. Rams Final Score, 34-27 Win Secures Playoff Bye Week For San Francisco

The San Francisco 49ers beat the St. Louis Rams by a score of 34-27 to finish the season with a 13-3 record. The win also gives them a bye week during the wildcard round of the playoffs.

The San Francisco 49ers held on to stop a late-game comeback attempt by the St. Louis Rams. They won the game by a final score of 34-27. The win gives San Francisco the NFC's second seed in the playoffs and the chance to cool their heels during the wildcard round of the playoffs next week.

In a game many assumed would be dominated by running back Frank Gore, wide receiver Michael Crabtree and tight end Vernon Davis led the offense. Crabtree finished with 92 yards and two touchdowns on nine catches, including a touchdown from kicker David Akers on a fake field goal attempt. Davis caught eight passes for 118 receiving yards. It was Davis' highest single-game total for receiving yards all season. Quarterback Alex Smith had 219 passing yards and one touchdown.

The 49ers defense allowed just their second rushing touchdown of the season on a first quarter scramble by Rams' backup quarterback Kellen Clemens. Clemens also threw a touchdown pass in a strong performance in relief of Sam Bradford. He connected with Brandon Lloyd on six passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. Kellens was hurt on a sack on the Rams' last drive of the game. Rams running back Steven Jackson left the game in the third quarter with an injury to his left arm. Jackson finished the game with 76 yards on 16 carries.

The 49ers get a week to rest and recouperate from the wear and tear of the regular season. They open the playoffs at home for the division round in two weeks.

For the Rams, it's another offseason of rebuilding as they grapple with a decision to fire head coach Steve Spagnuolo after three seasons and a 10-38 record.
