The New York Jets search for a new offensive coordinator lasted less than 24 hours. The Jets issued a statement on Tuesday night announcing Brian Schottenheimer had "resigned" as the offensive coordinator and by Wednesday morning the team confirmed that Tony Sparano will replace him.
Sparano, of course, is the former Miami Dolphins head coach who was fired near the end of the 2011-12 NFL season. His background is in the running game so I suspect that's where much of his focus will be.
ESPN has reported that Todd Haley, the former Kansas City Chiefs head coach, is interviewing in New York on Wednesday for a potential role as assistant head coach/passing game coordinator. Haley and Sparano are reportedly friends and it's been speculated that they could join forces. If that's the case, then Haley could be on his way to signing with the Jets.
Check out SB Nation's Gang Green Nation to see what Jets fans are saying about the addition of Sparano.
