Jeff Fisher confirmed reports Friday that he will coach the St. Louis Rams. His contract is not yet official, but that's a formality after spending a week weighing offers between the Rams and the Miami Dolphins.
"The process has been lengthy, but for good reasons," Fisher told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Friday afternoon. "I took a lot of time looking at and exploring in detail the non-economic issues of both clubs."
"I'm really excited that the Rams are the best fit for me," he added. "I hope I'm the best fit for the Rams, and am looking forward to finalizing the (contract) details and coming to work."
Fisher's agent informed the Dolphins of his client's decision on Friday, at which point Miami is believed to have leaked the news to the media before Fisher had a chance to inform the Rams. Coaching the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans over parts of 17 seasons, Fisher has a career record of 142-120 in the regular season and 5-6 in the playoffs.
