Saints Vs. 49ers, NFL Playoffs: San Fransisco Settles For Field Goal After Fumble

Is it fair to call this a meltdown? Yes, it is now fair to call what the New Orleans Saints are doing a meltdown. They've turned the ball over three times in the first quarter, the latest coming on a fumble by Courtney Roby. On the Saints' first touch of the ball after the Drew Brees interception, Roby fumbled the kickoff return and gave the ball right back to the San Fransisco 49ers.

San Fransisco didn't make much of their gift, failing to get a first down before allowing David Akers to kick a 25-yard field goal. The good news for the Saints is that holding the Niners to a field goal could be a small moral victory. The current score of 17-0 is certainly less demoralizing than 21-0.
