With Drew Brees warming up and slicing 14 points off what was a 17-0 lead for the San Francisco 49ers in their 2012 NFC Divisional Round matchup with the New Orleans Saints, it would be a good time for the Niners' offense to start putting points on the board again. Unfortunately for the city by the bay, that didn't happen late in the second quarter.
San Francisco did get a big play, with Alex Smith dropping a beautiful pass in for Vernon Davis to get into New Orleans territory. But their set of downs across the 50 was utterly unsuccessful, with Smith getting sacked on a third and 10 after two incomplete passes on first and second down.

The Niners are risking getting too cute with their run-pass balance in this game. Jim Harbaugh's team has run just seven times, while Smith has thrown 16 passes and been sacked twice more on dropbacks.
