At the end of the Saints' second touchdown drive, Drew Brees was 20-25 passing. With eight minutes remaining in the third quarter, he is currently 25-37 passing. The San Fransisco 49ers defense has stepped up considerably since then, and the New Orleans Saints were forced to punt on their most recent drive after a monster third down sack by Justin Smith.

Incredibly, just before that sack, Sean Payton rushed onto the field to get a timeout. It now goes without saying that it was a timeout wasted. It appeared that the Saints were going to get something going on the drive when Brees connected with Marques Colston on a 31-yard pass to get down to the San Fransisco 43-yard line, but the drive was derailed from there.
