The San Francisco 49ers had just 29 yards of total offense in the second half against the New Orleans Saints. And then Frank Gore ran for 42 on his own on one play to get the Niners into field goal range and help them extend their lead to six points at Candlestick Park.
Here's video of the play that may have secured the Niners' passage to the 2012 NFC Championship Game:
Gore had 42 yards on the ground before the play, and doubled that number on the carry while running through the Saints' secondary. The 49ers did nothing with the field position he got them, except execute another hilarious play that saw Gore catch a pass that was deflected by a defensive lineman, and David Akers' field goal only extended San Fran's lead to 23-17.
But they got something that led to that nothing, and that something led to points. For the Niners, that was a huge boost.
