The Denver Broncos defense was finally able to stop the New England Patriots defense and force a punt to get the ball back. The Broncos picked up six yards on a first down run by running back Willis McGahee to get across the 20-yard line. A few plays , quarterback Tim Tebow hit wide receiver Eddie Royal on a 10-yard pass that saw Royal spin for the first down.

On the next two plays however, Tim Tebow was sacked by Patriots defenders. On the first sack, Tebow felt some pressure that wasn't really there and tried to run, but was tackled for a loss. On the very next play, defensive lineman Gerard Warren burst through the line and sacked Tebow for a 6-yard loss and then proceeded to do a Gator chomp to celebrate, for a little Gator on Gator crime. The Broncos failed to pick up the first downs on third and long and punted the ball away.
