Jan 16, 2012 - The San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants will be meeting in a 2012 NFC Championship Game that comes as a surprise to many. It may be equally surprising, given the results of the last two days, that the Niners are favored over the Giants in it.
San Francisco is favored by two or 2.5 points for next Sunday's clash, according to SB Nation's odds partner, OddsShark, which represents a major reversal of fortune for a team that was an underdog at home against the New Orleans Saints. But the Niners both beat the Saints and flashed some offense in doing so, which probably factors into them being favored.
The Giants just staged an upset of their own, though, and theirs came on the road against the heavily favored Green Bay Packers. And if Eli Manning has demonstrated anything in the postseason, it's that he is not particularly intimidated by the road.
