The 2012 Shrine Game will take place on January 21 as the college football postseason All-Star schedule kicks off prior to NFL Draft day.

The 2012 East-West Shrine Game will take place this weekend as the top college football players showcase their talents as they attempt to impress NFL teams in the annual All-Star game. The game will be televised on the NFL Network for those interested in catching up on the next big thing in the big leagues.

Brad Childress will coach the West team while Bobby Ross will coach the East team, but it's the players that bring the real intrigue in Saturday's game. Luckily for those interested, Ryan Van Bibber of the Turf Show Times broke down a few of the top prospects that are probably being overlooked.

Greg Childs, WR, Arkansas, 6'3" 217 lbs - Prior to a torn pateller tendon in 2010 - the same injury that's hobbled Mark Clayton - Childs looked like one of the top receivers in the country. Never considered a speedster, he'll be looking to prove that his injury hasn't completely compromised his ability to get down field with a long stride. He's a possession type in the mold of Austin Pettis, but unlike Pettis, he has shown an ability to pick up YAC and plays better off the line. He probably isn't a guy on the Rams' radar, unless they can snag him with a late-round pick and have him compete with the disappointing Pettis.

The game's official website has full rosters for each team, but Van Bibber's breakdown is going to be required reading for some of the less-heralded prospects.
