Terrell Owens is, apparently back in football. On Wednesday evening, Owens hopped on something called beeyoo to release a video to his fans, announcing his next career move. But he won't be in a Dallas Cowboys uniform, or any other NFL uniform this time around. Owens is joining the Allen Wranglers of the IFL.
Here's the video, in which Owens implores fans to "get your popcorn ready." Popcorn is a big deal in the arena world, apparently.
For Owens, the fall from grace has been astounding. Once a supreme physical specimen with all the talent in the world, Owens' career has slid all the way down to the point where the only party interested in his services hails from a small Texas town and operates out of the IFL.
Reports of the Allen Wranglers' interest in Owens have been swirling for quite some time, with nobody quite sure whether this was for real or a publicity stunt. With Owens announcement that "it's official" on Wednesday, we've got our answer, and it's still somewhat surprising.
If nothing else, this gives the Wranglers an easy way to draw in fans. But who knows how well Owens will hold up -- remember, he tore his ACL during the last offseason -- as he tries to hang on to his player career until the bitter end.
