The Indianapolis Colts have decided to clean house. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Colts owner Jim Irsay has decided to fire GM Chris Polian and his father, Bill Polian, who has been with the organization since the 1998 season. There was speculation this could happen but it's still surprising.
There's currently no word on whether Jim Caldwell will survive the cut. He was reported to be on the hot seat and with the Polians departure you would think Caldwell would follow but we haven't been able to confirm that.
The Colts have not yet confirmed that the Polians are gone. Owner Jim Irsay has scheduled a press conference for 6:00 p.m. (ET).
Polian's early years with the Colts were terrific when he drafted stars such as Peyton Manning, Edgerrin James and Reggie Wayne. The Colts drafting has fallen off considerably since the 2007 season.
Indianapolis finished the season at 2-14. They hold the No. 1 pick in April's draft.
