It's the end of an era in Indianapolis. ESPN reports that the Colts have decided to fire Vice President and General Manager Chris Polian and his father, Vice Chairman Bill Polian, who has been with the organization since 1998. The decision came down after the Colts went 2-14 in the 2011-12 season.
There has not been, however, a decision made on head coach Jim Caldwell. it's unusual that a team would fire the front office leadership and then keep the head coach but that's where we stand with the Colts at the moment.
Team owner Jim Irsay has scheduled a 6:00 p.m. (ET) press conference where he's expected to announce that the Polians are gone. The remaining question is whether he also announces the departure of Caldwell.
For now, Caldwell's in limbo.
Whoever takes control in Indianapolis will enter a very interesting situation. The Colts have a lot of aging veterans on the team but they also hold the No. 1 pick and will have a decision to make on Peyton Manning's future.
