Giants Vs. 49ers, NFC Championship 2012: Game Schedule And More

The San Francisco 49ers are on the cusp of making its first Super Bowl appearance since winning the big game in Jan. 1995 against the San Diego Chargers. They will need to defeat the New York Giants, which most recently won a title during the 2007 season. On Sunday, the two teams will clash in San Francisco to close out Conference Championship weekend.

The 49ers played in the NFC Championship game as recently as Jan. 1998. However, they lost to the Green Bay Packers, 23-10. Long gone is Steve Young, but Alex Smith has created an aura around himself after last week's dramatic late victory over the New Orleans Saints. Will he be able to maintain that aura and lead the Niners to an appearance in Super Bowl XLVI?

Game time/date: 6:30 p.m. ET, Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012

Location: Candlestick Park, San Francisco, CA

TV: FOX

Odds: 49ers favored by 2 to 3 points; points total set around 42
