Tom Brady's Injury Explained: Shoulder Is Issue Of Pain Control

The New England Patriots are gearing up to host the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady raised some eyebrows and no small amount of concern when it was announced that he had missed Wednesday's practice.

Albert Breer of the NFL Network reported on Friday that Brady sat out the practice in order to mitigate the pain he is experiencing as a result of a sprain in his left shoulder. The missed practice is part of the schedule the Patriots have set up for the quarterback in order to ensure that his shoulder will continue to heal properly.

Brady's injury occurred in New England's December 24 game against the Miami Dolphins, but has not missed any game time since then. He is expected to play all of Sunday's game.
