The mayors from San Francisco and New York are starting to talk a little trash. As is tradition in some cities, the New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee have made a bet on Sunday's NFC Championship game between the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers.
The terms of the bet are...
If the Giants win, one of San Francisco's cable cars will be draped in Giants flags and the Mayor will send some of San Francisco's finest sourdough bread.
"Just like Hakeem Nicks ran right past the Packers' secondary, the Giants are going to breeze by the 49ers on their way to the Super Bowl," said Mayor Bloomberg. "After Sunday, Niners fans will be left with a taste as sour as their famous bread, and the Giants will have their sights set on another trophy."
If the 49ers win, New York will re-name 49th Street as 49ers Street and Bloomberg will send some of New York's finest bagels to San Francisco (which will probably be old by the time they get there but whatever).
"49ers fever is sweeping our City and the entire Bay Area region, and we are so proud of our hometown team," said Mayor Lee. "So while I'm excited to make this bet with Mayor Bloomberg, we have no intention of losing. We're going all the way to the Super Bowl. The Giants will have to leave their hearts and their Super Bowl hopes in San Francisco. Go Niners!"
If our predictions mean anything, San Francisco better start getting the Giants flag ready for the cable car.
