Colts Add Brad Childress To List Of Head Coaching Candidates

The Indianapolis Colts have added another name to their list of candidates for the head coaching vacancy. Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network said today via Twitter that Brad Childress is also a candidate to replace Jim Caldwell.

Childress joins a list of candidates mostly culled from the ranks of coordinators around the league. The Colts interviewed Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Jerry Gray for a six hours on Friday, according to the same report from LaCanfora. New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael is also in the mix.

Childress is familiar with the Colts. In 1985, he was the team's quarterbacks coach, his first NFL job. Childress is more recently known for his stint from 2006 to 2010 as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. He brought in none other than Brett Favre for his final two seasons in Minnesota.
