San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested and charged with driving under the influence Saturday morning. He was booked at 9:32 a.m. ET after police stopped his car in Miami Beach. Bond is listed at $1,000.
Otherwise, details are scant at this point. The 49ers have yet to say anything on their rookie standout, though that's not surprising considering how fresh the arrest is. There is now word yet as to whether Smith has posted bond.
Smith recorded 14 sacks at outside linebacker for the Niners during the regular season, tied for the fifth-highest total in the league with Terrell Suggs of the Baltimore Ravens. He is considered one of the top contenders for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award along with Von Miller of the Denver Broncos. He recorded a sack during last Sunday's loss to the New York Giants.
