Packers OC Joe Philbin To Interview With Chiefs, According To Report

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Kansas City Chiefs head coaching search has been quiet and for good reason -- most expect interim coach Romeo Crennel to be awarded the full-time position.

We haven't heard of any other candidates involved in the Chiefs coaching search until now. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Chiefs are scheduled to interview Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin for their head coaching job.

Philbin has been with the Packers since 2003 and took over offensive coordinator duties in 2007. The Packers have one of, if not the best offense in the NFL so it's not a big surprise that Philbin is getting a look.

The Chiefs can be considered a somewhat attractive job because of a lot of young talent currently on the team as well as plenty of cap space. On the negatives, their quarterback situation is shaky.

Schefter reports the Chiefs have had several interviews with head coaching candidates but Crennel and Philbin are the only known candidates at this point.
