The Oakland Raiders are expected to hire a GM at some point this offseason and the first known candidate is Reggie McKenzie, the Green Bay Packers director of football operations.
Following the passing of team owner Al Davis it was believed that the Oakland Raiders would be searching for a general manager to pair with head coach Hue Jackson. A few names have been thrown around but we have our first bit of real news on the search.
Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun Times reports the Raiders are expected to interview Reggie McKenzie, the Green Bay Packers director of football operations, on Wednesday.
McKenzie is a former player and has been with the Packers front office since 1994. His name has been mentioned in connection with a number of potential general manager jobs so he could have options outside of his interview in Oakland. He's one of the hottest names in the GM market right now.
He has ties to former Packers GM Ron Wolf, who has ties to Oakland. That's caused a lot of folks to make the connection and speculate that his most likely landing spot is Oakland.
