The Detroit Lions trailed 24-14 late in the third quarter of the NFC Wild Card game against the New Orleans Saints and they needed a big play to spark their team.
So why not throw it up to Calvin Johnson?
That's what Matthew Stafford did and, per usual, it worked.
Johnson caught the 42-yard bomb inside the Saints five yard line and on the next play Stafford boot-legged his way into the end zone for six points making the score 24-21. The Lions got down the field quickly and turned it into a one-score game, which is exactly what they needed.
Johnson now stands at nine catches for 173 yards which is....pretty incredible, as you might guess. He's an absolute beast and Stafford has the "No one's open so I'll just throw it deep to Megatron" attitude which actually works, like it did in this game.
The Lions are trailing, 24-21, nearing the end of the third quarter.
