Lions Vs. Saints Score: The Rout Is On As Saints Take 17-Point Lead

Stay connected with SB Nation

The rout is on in New Orleans With less than eight minutes to go the New Orleans Saints take a 17-point lead over the Detroit Lions. The Lions held a 14-10 lead after the first half and it looked like this would be a tight game. Instead, the Saints came storming out in the second half and now take a 38-21 lead with 7:29 remaining in the game.

The Saints offense is simply too good. That's the best way to put it. But things become even easier when the Lions secondary, who has seen a lot of criticism lately, completely blows assignments. On the Saints latest score, Brees dropped back to pass and quickly identified Robert Meachem, who was completely uncovered.

Brees now has 425 yards and three touchdowns in the game. His regular season was almost unbelievable and he's starting off the post season on the right foot.

The Saints are on their way to a blowout if the Lions can't mount a comeback in the final seven and a half minutes.
