Falcons Vs. Giants: Fourth Time Not A Charm For Falcons Offense

Stay connected with SB Nation

Matt Ryan and the Falcons offense barely had a second to thank the defense for picking up the first points of the game, a safety. Back on the field, Ryan and his offense went back to work, starting off with a play action pass on first down that picked up six yards on a catch by Jason Snelling.

Turned converted with a five-yard run that gave them a new set of downs. Another pass to Snelling for three yards followed that. They went back to Turner, but the Giants run defense continued to stuff the running lanes, keeping him to a one-yard gain.

On third-and-six, Ryan hit Jacquizz Rodgers on a short pass over the middle. It wasn't enough. Rodgers got five yards; the Falcons needed six. Punt.

They picked up just 20 yards on the drive, but rather than go for it on the fourth-and-one, Mike Smith trusted his defense.
