Dolphins vs. Cardinals, Week 4: Arizona overcomes rough defensive outing

Matt Kartozian-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for over 400 yards on Sunday, but the Arizona Cardinals manged to win anyway.

The Arizona Cardinals' great start to 2012 continued Sunday -- they beat the Miami Dolphins in overtime, 24-21, to improve to 4-0. Still, their performance against Miami was not without problems, as SB Nation's Revenge of the Birds pointed out afterward:

There were plenty of mistakes. Ryan Tannehill looked like a superstar, throwing for 431 yards. Receiver Brian Hartline set a team record with 12 catches and 253 yards receiving. On the other side, Davone Bess had seven catches for 123 yards. Kevin Kolb was intercepted twice. Patrick Peterson muffed two punts, fumbled on another return and made an inexplicable fair catch inside his team's five-yard line.

The Cardinals are 18th in total defense, but third in scoring defense. They gave up 480 yards of offense to Miami and were out-gained by more than 180 yards, but a +2 turnover margin helped them turn the game in their favor.

Arizona faces the St. Louis Rams in Week 5.
