Rob Grabowski-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather was involved in a pregame collision with teammate Aldrick Robinson and now a report is saying Meriweather suffered a "minor setback" to the knee injury that has kept him out since the preseason.

Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather was apart of a strange and scary scene on Sunday when he collided with teammate Aldrick Robinson in pregame warmups before Washington's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After undergoing an MRI, Meriweather's injury is being called "a minor setback," according to a report.

Meriweather has not played all season after suffering a left-knee injury during the Redskins' second preseason game and aggravating that injury in practice just before the beginning of the season.

The hard-hitting safety was prepared to play for the first time all season on Sunday agains Tampa Bay, but after the pregame collision, he was sidelined and placed on the inactive list for the game.

The Redskins won the game, 24-22, but it will be seen how the two injuries affect Washington going forward. Robinson was briefly knocked unconscious and suffered a concussion.

Washington's next game is Sunday at home when they host the Atlanta Falcons. That game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on Oct. 7 from FedEx Field.
