Atlanta Falcons tight end and surefire future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez has said repeatedly that the 2012 season will be his last in the NFL, but wide receiver Roddy White told "The Dan Patrick Show" on Wednesday that he believed otherwise (with quotes courtesy of Sports Radio Interviews):
"I’m still asking him that right to this day. I’m like, ‘You catch 13 balls in a day and you’re talking about retiring?’"
"I don’t know, he says this is the last year. … I just think if they offer him enough money, he’ll come back and play." [Laughs]
White is certainly no stranger to bold and often misinformed public comments (see also: his entire Twitter account), but he's accurate in the assessment that Gonzalez isn't playing like a veteran that's slowing down: he has 39 receptions for 388 yards and four touchdowns this year, with all three of those marks on pace to be the best during his four seasons with the Falcons.
