Green Bay Packers running back Alex Green will start on Sunday but coach Mike McCarthy plans to use several players to fill the role. We break down the fantasy implications.
Alex Green will get the start at running back for the Green Bay Packers on Sunday but coach Mike McCarthy will give several players a chance earn playing time. McCarthy said Wednesday (via ESPNWisconsin.com) that he didn't have time for competition and would keep using the player with the hot hand against the Houston Texans. Green, James Starks and Brandon Saine should all see additional playing time now that Cedric Benson is out for at least eight weeks.
Fantasy Impact: Green is the player fantasy owners should have targeted on the waiver wire, as Starks hasn't been active all season and Saine has mostly played on special teams. Houston's defense is not a great matchup for Green Bay's running backs, so Green should be treated as a No. 3 running back or flex play. Starks, depending on roster space, could be worth grabbing in case Green doesn't work out.
