Brady Quinn over Matt Cassel as Chiefs starter vs. Raiders

Fresh off their bye week, the Kansas City Chiefs are prepared to roll with Brady Quinn as their starting quarterback in Week 8 against Oakland, according to Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star.

Quinn took the reigns to open Week 6 after starter Matt Cassel suffered a concussion the previous game, but was hardly effective in a 38-10 loss to Tampa Bay. Though Cassel resumed non-contact drills during his team's bye week, the veteran signal caller is not expected to be cleared for a full practice until this week, leading the organization to make the safe choice in Quinn.

Set to make his second straight start for the Chiefs, the 27-year-old Quinn completed 22-of-38 passes for 180 yards and two interceptions against the Bucs, but may still have a viable shot to stay on the field if he can put forth a big effort against the Raiders. Cassel's unfortunate concussion clearly opened the door for the former first-round pick to get a crack at the job, although he will need to fare much better than he did in Week 6 to have any chance at unseating Cassel long term.
