Head coach Rex Ryan expressed his confidence in Shonn Greene to get the Jets running game back on track, despite the running back averaging just 2.9 yards per carry this season. We break down the fantasy implications.
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan gave Shonn Greene a vote of confidence Thursday, saying it is only a matter of time before the running back "really starts popping off", according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. Greene is averaging just 2.9 yards per carry this season, and a typically sounds Jets running game currently ranks 25th in the league averaging 83 yards per game.
Fantasy Impact: Greene, and just about every other potential fantasy option on Jets' offense, has been a big disappointment for fantasy owners this season. The bruising running back has supplemented his poor yardage total with just one touchdown on the year. With Bilal Powell gradually taking on an increasing role, Greene's fantasy value is dropping by the week. Ryan's comments hinted that the two will be sharing touches out of the backfield when the Jets take on the Indianapolis Colts this weekend.
