The Lions organization released a statement Thursday on the alleged hit-and-run by star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

The Detroit Lions have released a statement on the allegations that defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was involved in a hit-and-run early Thursday morning in Allen Park, Mich.

The statement comes from Lions' beat writer Anwar Richardson, via Twitter:

"We are aware of the reports involving Ndamukong Suh. Since this is a traffic incident, we will defer any comments to the local law enforcement agency that filed a report on the incident this morning."

No statement from Suh has been released at this time, and he was unwilling to speak to reporters following Thursday's practice, according to Fox 2 in Detroit. Deerborn police are looking into the alleged hit-and-run, which reportedly occurred while the defensive tackle was on his way to practice.

The driver that was hit identifies himself as a Detroit Lions fan, but was unaware the Range Rover that struck him was driven by Suh until after the event transpired. He claims to be seeking nothing more than compensation for the Ford Escort he was driving, not to saddle the star defensive player with "bad press."
