Chiefs vs. Buccaneers, Week 6: Kansas City fans frustrated with Brady Quinn's debut

The Kansas City Chiefs turned to Brady Quinn at quarterback this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, one week after Matt Cassel was sidelined with an injury. Chiefs fans had been looking for a quarterback change nearly all season long and controversy erupted this week when players called out fans for apparently cheering on Cassel's injury against the Ravens.

Under Quinn, however, not much was different for the 1-5 Chiefs.

Kansas City was blown out on the road in Tampa Bay, 38-10, with the Chiefs not managing a touchdown until the fourth quarter. Quinn was 22-of-38 for 180 yards and two interceptions, showing the same inability to drive the offense forward that Chiefs fans had seen with Cassel.

Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride expands on the thought:

Like Cassel, Quinn's favorite target was Dwayne Bowe, looking his way nine times. Bowe finished the game with 21 yards on only three receptions though. His longest reception was for... eight yards. Dexter McCluster saw eight targets from Quinn, catching six of them for 39 yards. The leading receiver in this game was Steve Maneri. Yes, the offensive tackle who converted back to tight end led the Chiefs with 45 yards on four receptions.

Quinn wasn't the only reason the Chiefs lost but he wasn't part of the solution either. KC Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel said after the game (audio via 810 WHB) that Quinn "commanded it pretty nicely."

The Chiefs take on the Oakland Raiders next Sunday after a bye week in Week 7.

Chiefs vs. Buccaneers, Week 6: Tampa Bay rolls in 'complete victory'

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were able to notch their second victory on the season and their second home win after the team completed their blow out victory over the visiting Kansas City Chiefs, by the score of 38-10.

Evident by the Chiefs 10 points on the day, the Tampa Bay defense was only responsible in allowing three of those points. No. 7 overall draft pick Mark Barron intercepted his first career pass while veteran Ronde Barber was able to turn back the clock and take an interception back for a touchdown.

The offense looked good, too, scoring three touchdowns through the air and one on the ground, while getting everyone involved in the fun.

It's been a tough go for Tampa Bay recently. After winning the season opener, the team lost three close games, two on the road. But as Sander Philipse of Bucs Nation notes, this was a complete victory for Tampa Bay, who looked fantastic today.

This was a complete victory: run defense was stifling, pass defense produced turnovers, the passing offense produced big play after play and the running game closed out the game. The Bucs looked dominant today, although the Kansas City Chiefs did not put up much of a fight.

Tampa Bay will now prepare to host the visiting New Orleans Saints, who are coming into town off of a bye week and looking to gain ground in the NFC South standings.
