Aaron Hernandez made the trip to Seattle with the New England Patriots, and is expected to play Sunday, albeit in a limited role. We break down the fantasy implications.
Aaron Hernandez will play Sunday when the New England Patriots travel to take on the Seattle Seahawks, according to Greg A. Bedard of the Boston Globe. The tight end will be on a limited snap count, however, as he makes his way back from an ankle injury suffered in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals.
Hernandez was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday, but was held out unexpectedly Friday. He had six receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown in the Pats' season opener against the Tennessee Titans.
Fantasy Impact: If Hernandez is on the field for just 15-20 plays as Bedard suggests, the tight end may not be worth the risk for a lot of fantasy owners. Hernandez will have to shake off a considerable amount of rust, and he clearly isn't 100 percent. Not to mention that the Seahawks have one of the best pass defenses in the league.
Beyond this week, Hernandez should start making his way back into fantasy lineups. He proved in Week 1 that he is still an important part of a Patriots offense that has a lot of weapons at its disposal.
