Thomas J. Russo-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Donald Brown is inactive for Sunday's game between the Colts and the Jets, giving Vick Ballard the start. We break down the fantasy implications.

Donald Brown has been ruled inactive by the Indianapolis Colts for Sunday's game against the New York Jets. Brown suffered a knee injury last week against the Green Bay Packers, and underwent surgery Tuesday to repair torn cartilage. He is expected to miss another 1-2 weeks.

With Brown out, Vick Ballard is expected to start out of the backfield for the Colts. Ballard has 21 carries for 42 yards this season. Delone Carter and Mewelde Moore could see touches, as well.

Fantasy Impact: If you're in need of a last-second fantasy starter at running back, Ballard is certainly worth a look going up against a Jets defense that is giving up 4.9 yards per carry and over 170 yards rushing per game this season. While Carter and Moore are also in the mix, every indication is that the 5'10, 220-pound Ballard will shoulder the load for Indianapolis.
