Oh punters …
Nobody grows up wanting to be a punter, it just kind of finds you. There are rare moments, though, like an oasis in a desert, that the oft-ignored punter finds himself in a situation where it's all on him, and, despite the odds being stacked against him, it's time to summon up maligned and repressed athleticism to show them what you're made of.
Michael Koenen had that moment, and it went about how you'd expect.
Blocks happen, and kudos to Koenen for a heads-up play to retrieve the ball and make something out of nothing. However, he then sets back punter-equality a good 30 years by throwing this pick six. Despite it's waffling, floating nature, and even though it put six points on the board, one wonders if the Kansas City coaches were pondering if Michael Koenen is the answer for their QB woes.
