Ponder is lost, and that's okay.
Awareness: It's more than a rating in Madden each year. Being aware of what's going on around you, where pass rushers are coming from and understanding what to do with the ball is vital in being an aware and successful NFL quarterback. Does Christian Ponder have awareness yet? You decide.
It's too easy to make fun of what happened, so let's try empathy as a nice change of pace. Here is how this play went down:
1. Ball is damp. Have you ever thrown a damp football? It's like... really hard!
2. It pops straight up in the air. Again, DAMP
3. Physics: Where are they? Where is this devil ball going? Not left, not behind, nothing right, wait... it went left?!
4. Big men should not have sure hands.
In the end I think it's clear this was not Christian Ponders' fault at all -- except for that pesky part that was everything.
