The Green Bay Packers are pulling away from the Houston Texans in the third quarter, thanks in part to some costly penalties against Houston.
Jordy Nelson caught his third touchdown pass of the game to put Green Bay up 28-10, but it was two Texans penalties that set up the touchdown. Houston appeared to have forced Green Bay to settle for a field goal, but Connor Barwin was flagged for leaping on the field goal attempt, giving Green Bay an automatic first down.
Houston once again forced Green Bay into a fourth down, but Texans' safety Danieal Manning was flagged for unnecessary roughness following the third-down play, giving the Packers another penalty first down. Aaron Rodgers hit Nelson two plays later and Green Bay extended its lead.
Texans penalties becoming Packers points has become a consistent theme in this game. Houston lined up offsides on Green Bay's punt attempt following its first drive. The Packers took advantage then too, with Rodgers finding Nelson for a 41-yard touchdown on the next play.
