Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma said he will be allowed to play Sunday, but fans wonder if he'll actually be ready to go.
New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma said he will be allowed to play Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which prompted rejoice from Saints fans Monday.
However, Canal Street Chronicles wonders if Vilma will actually be ready to play come Sunday's 1 p.m. kickoff:
This is absolutely huge news! But initial excitement should be tempered. Being allowed to play is one thing, of course. Being game-ready and physically in shape is another. So just because Vilma is eligible to dress this Sunday, doesn't mean he actually will. My guess is that he won't. And is it really worth bringing him back for just one game, given the likely outcome of his appeal?
Dave Cariello at Canal Street Chronicles wonders where Vilma will play, though. Will he be inserted back as a middle linebacker, or will he move to the outside to accommodate the play of Curtis Lofton?
A poll currently on Canal Street Chronicles asked fans whether they think Vilma will actually play Sunday. As of 1:20 p.m. ET on Monday, 84 voted "Yes" and 83 voted "No."
