Giants-Eagles was big for NBC, while Saints-Packers was up for Fox.

The showdown between the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles topped the ratings for the always dominant NFL in Week 4.

Giants-Eagles drew a 15.6 overnight rating for NBC, which is up 23 percent from last year's Jets-Ravens game (12.7), and up 10 percent from a Bears-Giants game in 2010 (14.2) that -- while a dreadful game -- still featured two of the three biggest markets in the country. The rating is the highest for a Week 4 game since 1996, when Dolphins-Colts drew a 19.1 on Monday Night Football.

NBC outdrew the 4:25 p.m. ET game for the second time this season, which was a rare occurrence before this year. Fox, however, still had much to cheer about. Their national game (Saints-Packers for most of the country) drew a 14.9, up 10 percent from the national window last year, which was Broncos/Packers on CBS. It was, however, down 6 percent from Eagles/Redskins in the 4 p.m. ET national window the last time Fox had it, in 2010. Meanwhile, the 1 p.m. ET window of the doubleheader drew a 9.8 overnight, up 5 percent from both last year and 2010. This all despite featuring an awful 49ers-Jets game in much of the nation.

CBS has the least to crow about this week, as they were stuck with a fairly weak slate of games (a Raiders-Broncos blowout was forced on much of the country against the Saints-Packers showdown) and drew a fairly weak rating. The singleheader coverage drew a 10.4 overnight, down 30 percent from last year's singleheader, which featured Lions-Cowboys on Fox. It was also down 13 percent from the Ravens-Steelers-led singleheader in 2010, the last time it was on CBS. So far, CBS has averaged a 10.4 rating for their two singleheader windows, while Fox has averaged a 12.7.
