The Houston Texans defense has had a big day so far Sunday.
The Houston Texans defense has been all over the field on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, sacking Joe Flacco for a safety and later intercepting Flacco and returning it for a touchdown.
Connor Barwin came up with the sack in the end zone for the safety, and Johnathan Joseph picked off Flacco for the touchdown. Rookie first-round pick Whitney Mercilus also recorded a sack, giving the Texans' defense two on the afternoon. Houston has held the Ravens to just three points thus far.
Houston's defense had a rough showing last week on Sunday Night Football, when the Green Bay Packers lit them up for 42 points. The Texans are still among the best defenses in the NFL, but have been looking for a way to replace Brian Cushing, who was lost for the season earlier in the year.
If Mercilus and Barwin continue to step up, Houston's defense should be able to return to top form.
