Carolina has announced a noon ET press conference, where the Panthers will discuss the firing of GM Marty Hurney.

The Carolina Panthers fired general manager Marty Hurney on Monday, and now the franchise is looking for an interim GM. The Panthers have set a press conference for noon ET, and current Director of Football Operations Brandon Beane could be the man tabbed for the interim role. Beane has been with Carolina since the 2003 season.

Hurney became the Panthers' general manager in 2002 and helped build the foundation for some successful seasons, including an appearance in Super Bowl XXXVIII. But the franchise has had trouble rebuilding in recent seasons, and after a 6-10 campaign in 2011, the Panthers are just 1-5 to begin 2012. They lost to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, which was their fourth loss in a row.

It is not certain which Panthers officials will speak during this afternoon's press conference, though owner Jerry Richardson could be among them. Head coach Ron Rivera's usual Monday press conference has been pushed back.
