Troy Polamalu and Marcus Gilbert have already been ruled out of Sunday's matchup against the Washington Redskins.

Pittsburgh Steelers strong safety Troy Polamalu has already been ruled out of Sunday's Week 8 matchup against the Washington Redskins, according to head coach Mike Tomlin on Tuesday afternoon.

Polamalu is still struggling with the lingering effects of a calf injury that was sustained in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos. After missing several weeks, the 31-year-old veteran was able to return in Week 5's victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. However, he was unable to finish the game after re-aggravating the injury while chasing after quarterback Michael Vick.

After missing the team's two most recent games against the Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals, Polamalu will miss his third consecutive game.

In addition, offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert has also been ruled out for Sunday's game due to the damaged tendons in his ankle, which he originally sustained in the team's Week 6 matchup against the Titans. This will be the second consecutive game that Gilbert will miss.
